WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) announced that she has introduced the Keep Mail Safe Act, a bill which would require the U.S. Postmaster General to study the possibility of retrofitting all blue mail collection boxes in the United States with narrow mail slots, in order to combat the mail theft crime known as mail fishing.
Mail fishing occurs when criminals place string connected to a sticky material into collection boxes. The sticky substance attaches to the mail and these lawbreakers "fish" out the envelopes.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY), joined by members of New York City's Congressional delegation, sent a letter to Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Andrew Wheeler encouraging his agency to require all water systems to collect, maintain, and publish data on water lines made out of lead, which are known as Lead Service Lines (LSLs).
Drinking water from LSLs can pose health hazards as lead leaches into the water when lines age.

Grace Meng (D-NY), a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies which funds the U.S. Census Bureau, today issued the following statement on the Trump administration's decision to not include a citizenship question on the 2020 Census.
"The Trump administration abandoning its crusade to add a citizenship question is outstanding news, and it's a huge victory in my efforts to stop this question from being added to the 2020 Census.

Grace Meng (D-Queens) called on the head of Government Accountability Office (GAO) to study how the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has considered community noise impacts while implementing the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) in major metropolitan areas such as Queens and the rest of the New York area.
