QUEENS, NY – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) today urged Mayor de Blasio to expedite the New York City Housing Authority's (NYCHA) lead paint testing initiative so that testing can finally begin at complexes in Queens.
"While the city rightly prioritized testing in complexes with the highest number of children under 6, the reported backlog on testing and failure to begin testing in Queens is unacceptable," Meng wrote in a letter to the Mayor. "As of July 23, not a single NYCHA complex in Queens has been tested.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) introduced the "Stop Cruelty to Migrant Children Act" that would ensure migrant families and children who arrive at the U.S.-Mexico border are provided with safe, sanitary, and humane services.
The legislation seeks to provide guardrails and set minimum standards of treatment for children and families to ensure government funds are not used to traumatize or harm asylum seekers.

Grace Meng (D-NY) announced today that she introduced the Community College Student Success Act, which seeks to ensure that under-resourced public community colleges with high percentages of low-income and minority students, have the necessary funding to develop and implement support services that help students thrive and graduate.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, announced that several provisions she championed which are critical to Israel and the Jewish community were included in a key spending package that recently passed the U.S. House of Representatives.
The items Meng obtained include the following:
  • $500 million for U.S.-Israel Missile Defense Cooperation. Funding will be used for the U.S.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY), Co-Chair of the Congressional Hepatitis Caucus, introduced legislation to recognize World Hepatitis Day, which is on Sunday, July 28th.
Currently, an estimated 5.7 million people are living with the hepatitis B virus (HBV) or hepatitis C virus (HCV). Despite its prevalence, awareness is low: close to three quarters of the population infected with HBV or HCV are unaware of their condition.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – This evening, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) issued the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed House Resolution 489 that condemns President Trump's racist comments directed at Members of Congress. Meng voted for the resolution and was a cosponsor of the measure.
"President Trump's comments are racist and his vile rants on Twitter are beyond the pale, and show his callous disregard for the office he holds. He has not apologized, shown any remorse, and doubled down on his disgusting remarks.
