U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) announced today that one her Congressional committees will hold a field hearing in Queens to probe the Small Business Administration’s (SBA) lack of outreach to local small businesses.
The hearing, to be conducted by the House Small Business Subcommittee on Contracting and Workforce, will be held at Queens College on Tuesday, March 11 at 11 a.m. Meng serves as the Ranking Member of the Subcommittee.

Legislation sponsored by U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) that aims to make historic sites in Flushing, Queens part of the National Park Service won support today from the United States Department of the Interior, the agency that oversees federal parkland.
The Congresswoman’s measure would require the Secretary of the Interior to study the viability of the National Park Service acquiring spots associated with the 1657 signing of the Flushing Remonstrance, the document recognized as the forerunner of religious freedom in America.

U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) has received a 100+ percent rating from the Humane Society of the United States, the nation's leading animal rights organization.
Meng was awarded the top score in the group's annual Humane Scorecard which is used to rate Members of Congress on animal welfare issues. She was one of only 25 Members of Congress to receive a 100+.

After hearing concerns from parents and their elected representatives in Community School District 26, the New York City Department of Education (DOE) has agreed to allow all elementary students currently matriculated in the Gifted & Talented (G&T) programs to transition to G&T programs at their local middle schools after fifth grade graduation. DOE will also create more middle school G&T programs for high-performing general education students who meet the requirements for the program.

U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) introduced a measure in Congress today that aims to create a school holiday for the Lunar New Year, which the Asian-American community is set to celebrate on January 31.
Meng's measure, a Congressional resolution, encourages local education agencies serving a substantial Asian-American population to close schools on Lunar New Year in recognition of the cultural significance of the holiday.
