Meng Assists Mother of 8-Year-Old Boy Murdered Last Week By His Father in Queens

July 8, 2014
U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) announced today that she is working to assist the mother of the 8-year-old boy who was murdered last week by his father in Queens.
Prosecutors say 41-year-old Boujeke Kenmoe was charged with murder for strangling his 8-year-old son Jerry in their Fresh Meadows home. Prosecutors say he then tried to take his own life.
Meng is attempting to help the mother, Orlie Siankam, obtain a travel document that would permit her to return to her native country of Cameroon so that she can bring the child's body back there for his funeral and burial. Meng contacted the Cameroonian Embassy in Washington yesterday to get the paperwork started, and arrange for the mother's application to be expedited. Meng also arranged for her to be interviewed by embassy officials in Washington today.
"The death of this innocent child is an awful and horrible tragedy," said Meng. "We will do all we can to assist the mother, and we send her our thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time."
