U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) today issued the following statement on the death of former Queens Councilman Tom Ognibene:
"I am sad to learn about the passing of Tom Ognibene. He was a dedicated public servant who worked tirelessly for Queens and loved the communities he represented. He fought hard for the things in which he believed and helped make our city and borough an even better place to live. I send my deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time."

U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) announced today that the United States Department of Education has designated P.S. 244 in Flushing as a Blue Ribbon School.
P.S. 244, known as The Active Learning Elementary School (TALES), was awarded the designation this morning by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.
