Meng and Koslowitz Host Meet and Greet with Jewish Community Leaders and City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito
U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) and New York City Councilwoman Karen Koslowitz (D-Queens) on Tuesday night (January 19) hosted a meet and greet with the Queens Jewish community and New York City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito.
The event, which took place at the Beth Gavriel Bukharian Jewish Community Center in Forest Hills, included local rabbis and civic and business leaders from the area. It consisted of Speaker Mark-Viverito meeting and speaking one-on-one with those in attendance as well as brief remarks from all three lawmakers.
“There are so many important issues affecting Jewish New Yorkers in Queens and this event gave the Speaker an opportunity to hear those concerns directly from members of the borough’s Jewish community,” said Meng. “I thank her for coming to Queens, and for listening to the issues that concern them. I look forward to welcoming her back to my district in the very near future.”
“I was pleased, along with Congresswoman Grace Meng, to have facilitated a meeting between City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito and Queens Jewish community leaders,” said Koslowitz. “A meaningful dialogue between the two occurred with community leaders expressing their needs and problems and the Speaker explaining how the City Council and her office can assist in finding solutions.”
"It's been a pleasure to meet leaders from Jewish community organizations across the five boroughs," said Council Speaker Mark-Viverito, “and I am grateful to Council Member Koslowitz and Congresswoman Meng for inviting me to meet with their community’s leadership. The Jewish community’s dedication to helping people from every neighborhood and every background is truly inspiring. I look forward to continuing and expanding upon our work together in the future.”
