WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to the opioid epidemic shaking the nation, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) today sent a letter to the Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use, Dr. Elinore F. McCance-Katz, commending the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP).

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) today hailed the policy change by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that will allow houses of worship to receive federal disaster funds, an issue long championed by the Congresswoman who pushed for the policy change for years.
The new policy, published in today's Federal Register, will make churches, synagogues, mosques and temples eligible for disaster aid from FEMA so that they can repair and rebuild from damage caused by natural disasters.

WASHNGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng's (D-NY) amendment requiring an assessment of the effectiveness of U.S. economic sanctions against Iran was passed late this afternoon by the House of Representatives as part of the Iranian Leadership Asset Transparency Act, H.R. 1638.
H.R. 1638 directs the U.S. Department of the Treasury to issue a report explaining how it assesses the impact and effectiveness of U.S. economic sanctions programs against Iran, but does not require the actual assessment.

Queens, N.Y. – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) honored Queens College by presenting its President Félix V. Matos Rodríguez with a Congressional Record that commemorates the school's 80th anniversary.
The anniversary recognition, which was written and entered into the Congressional Record by Meng, highlights the college's beginnings, and pays tribute to its accomplishments and success.
