WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) announced today that her legislation to combat a widespread telephone scam that has adversely affected Americans has been signed into law.
The legislation, which was signed into law this afternoon as part of the omnibus spending bill, would crack down on criminals who engage in spoofing, a scheme in which criminals disguise their caller ID to make it appear that they're calling from a financial institution, police department or government agency.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) today questioned Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross during an Appropriations Subcommittee hearing, pressing him on the impacts of adding a question to the 2020 census that would ask respondents if they are citizens.
During the hearing, Ross said that he has not yet made a decision on whether or not to include the question.
Meng has opposed the Justice Department's request to add a citizenship question to the census, and she and Rep.

Meng stood with the thousands of students who descended on Capitol Hill to demand passage of tougher gun safety laws.

"I am extremely sad to learn about this horrible crash. This incident is a terrible tragedy and I send my deepest condolences to the families of those who were killed. WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) today issued the following statement after the Anti-Defamation League's new report on the historic rise in anti-Semitic incidents in New York.
"It is deeply disturbing to see that the number of anti-Semitic incidents in New York rose by over 90 percent in 2017 compared to 2016," said Meng. "Queens, the area that I represent in Congress, saw the largest increase in incidents rising from 11 to 39 from 2016 to 2017.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) introduced legislation to create the first ever U.S. government website through which consumers can find information about products that are made in America. The "MadeInAmerica.gov Act," H.R. 4970, would require the United States Department of Commerce to create and maintain a MadeInAmerica.gov website listing American-made products.
"It is time that the federal government did more for American businesses and American workers," said Rep. Meng.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – With the Asian American community celebrating Lunar New Year on Friday, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) introduced a resolution today that urges the House of Representatives to officially recognize the holiday.
The measure encourages the House to recognize the cultural and historical significance of Lunar New Year in the year 2018. It also expresses the deepest respect for Asian Americans and all individuals throughout the world who celebrate the holiday.

QUEENS, NY – U.S. Reps. Grace Meng (D-Queens) and Nydia M. Velázquez (D-Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan) yesterday sent a letter to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) urging an inspection of the highway-rail crossings in Maspeth after crossing signals failed to activate at the intersection of 56th Street and Flushing Avenue.
"The Federal Railroad Administration must immediately send an inspector to investigate the highway-rail crossings in Maspeth after this dangerous incident," said Rep. Meng.
