Grace Meng (D-Queens), State Senator Roxanne Persaud (D-Brooklyn), Assembly Member Andrew Hevesi (D-Queens) and Council Member Karen Koslowitz (D-Queens) led 94 New York elected officials from all levels of government in urging President Trump to support the expansion of critical safety net programs for New Yorkers, as N.Y. continues its fight against COVID-19. These programs include food assistance for children and seniors, hazard pay for essential workers, paid sick leave, additional funding for unemployment benefits and other essential initiatives.

QUEENS, NY – Today, U.S. Reps. Grace Meng (D-Queens) and Tom Suozzi (D-Queens/L.I.) led members of the New York congressional delegation in calling for co-ops and condos to be eligible for loans under the federal Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).
In a letter to Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and Small Business Administration (SBA) Administrator Jovita Carranza, the lawmakers called for immediate reconsideration of the decision to exclude co-ops and condos from PPP loans.

QUEENS, NY – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) today announced the introduction of legislation that would require all federal government agencies to translate into multiple languages all written COVID-19-related materials that are produced for the public.
The COVID-19 Language Access Act would apply to any federal agency that receives coronavirus-related funding.

QUEENS, NY – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) announced today that New York State officials brought a COVID-19 antibody testing site to Flushing, Queens on Friday and Saturday.
The site conducted nearly 200 random tests of local residents each day (179 tests on Friday and 183 tests on Saturday).

QUEENS, NY – With many grocery stores offering special senior citizen shopping hours due to the coronavirus crisis, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) today called for these supermarkets – along with online retailers – to provide seniors and vulnerable populations with designated delivery slots as well.
"I commend the grocery stores that have provided these special shopping hours for seniors and at-risk customers," said Meng. "Seniors and other vulnerable individuals have used them as a lifeline during this pandemic.

QUEENS, NY – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) announced today that she sent a letter to U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos urging her to ensure protections during the coronavirus pandemic for students with disabilities, English language learners (ELLs), and other school kids who require special accommodations.
In her correspondence, Meng called on DeVos to exercise high levels of scrutiny when issuing waivers of requirements under civil rights and education laws.
