WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY), a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Homeland Security—which has oversight over the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) budget and policies—announced today she sent a letter to acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf after news emerged that Muslim detainees in an Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention facility in Miami, Florida, were forced to choose between pork or pork-based products and rotten or expired halal meals.

QUEENS, NY – Today, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) reminded Queens families to be aware of a new federal government benefit that provides all New York City public school parents with $420 per child.
Entitled the Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT), the one-time payment can be used to purchase groceries. The funds will arrive this month for many New York families with some already receiving the money.

"I am devastated about the passing of Claire Shulman. A great friend, mentor, and role model, she was an incredible woman and a political icon who during her time as Borough President was the embodiment of Queens.
Claire absolutely loved the borough that she led for 16 years, and she never stopped fighting for its residents.

QUEENS, NY – Today, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) led a letter to House and Senate leaders calling for the next coronavirus relief package to provide economic impact payments to millions of immigrants who file their taxes with an Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN).
In March, Congress passed and the President signed into law the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) announced today that she has cosponsored the SNAP COVID-19 Anti-Hunger Restaurant Relief for You Act (H.R. 6688), which would expand the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program - Restaurant Meals Program (SNAP RMP) to help those experiencing food insecurity during the coronavirus crisis access low-cost meals at restaurants.
SNAP RMP allows individuals who are homeless, elderly, or disabled to use their SNAP benefits to purchase prepared meals at participating restaurants.
