Grace Meng (D-NY), a member of the House Appropriations Committee's Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs, released the following statement following her questioning of Rex Tillerson, Secretary of State, regarding the Department's failure to appoint a Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat anti-Semitism:
"I pressed Secretary Tillerson at this hearing on why the State Department has not yet appointed a Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat anti-Semitism.

QUEENS, NY – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) today issued the following statement denouncing the anti-Muslim marches that are scheduled to take place across the country this weekend.
"I denounce the anti-Muslim marches that are scheduled to take place across the country this weekend, and I proudly stand in solidarity with the American Muslim community in this climate of increased Islamophobia. These planned demonstrations are nothing more than attempts to fan the flames of hate, spread misinformation, and intensify anti-Muslim sentiment.

QUEENS, NY – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) visited Engine Company 286/Ladder Company 135 in Glendale, Queens to present members of the firehouse with a Congressional Record that honors the life, service and bravery of FDNY Firefighter William Tolley.
Tolley, who was a member of Ladder Company 135, died in the line of duty in April while battling a blaze in Ridgewood.
Meng placed the tribute to Tolley in the Congressional Record last month and presented an official framed copy at the firehouse this week.

U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) today issued the following statement on the MTA's possible demolishing of businesses located on the Lefferts Boulevard Bridge in Kew Gardens, Queens. The bridge, located over the Long Island Railroad tracks near the Kew Gardens LIRR station, is home to 12 local businesses.
"The bridge on Lefferts Boulevard has long been a fixture in the Kew Gardens community and the businesses there have been the livelihood for many individuals.

Grace Meng (D-NY) hosted the first ever Capitol Hill panel discussion with menstrual hygiene policy experts to discuss her recently introduced legislation, the Menstrual Products Right to Know Act. The discussion occurred in advance of World Menstrual Hygiene Day, which is May 28.
Meng's bill (H.R. 2416) aims to make menstrual hygiene products safer by ensuring that women know what they are putting in their bodies.
