WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) announced today that she spearheaded an effort to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) urging it to give full and fair consideration to communities in Queens that may have their quality of life impacted by Peconic Environmental Services' proposal for a new solid waste facility, a plan that would export waste through parts of Queens on trains.

Grace Meng (D-Queens), New York's senior member of the House Appropriations Committee, announced today that she recently visited Ohel Children's Home and Family Services' residence for the developmentally disabled in Kew Gardens Hills, Queens to commemorate the $233,000 she secured for upgrading the site.
The building, which opened in 1978 and is located on Kissena Boulevard, is a residence for ten adult men with developmental and intellectual disabilities.
