"I applaud today's unanimous decision by a panel of judges from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. President Trump's executive order was unconstitutional when he signed it, and it should never be allowed to impact another person seeking refuge in America.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) helped introduce legislation that would award the late Egyptian President Anwar Sadat with the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest civilian honor bestowed by the United States Congress.
"Anwar Sadat was an extraordinary leader, visionary and peacemaker who as President of Egypt became the first Arab leader to visit and recognize Israel," said Meng.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) announced today that she will introduce legislation to stop President Trump's unconstitutional executive order that bans refugees from the United States.
The No Funds for Unconstitutional Executive Orders Act, which Meng will introduce this week, would prohibit any funds made available by Congress from being used to enforce the President's refugee ban.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) announced today that she has introduced a resolution calling on the House of Representatives to officially recognize Lunar New Year in 2017.
The measure (H. Res. 63) encourages the House to recognize the cultural and historical significance of Lunar New Year in the year 2017. It also expresses the deepest respect for Asian Americans and all individuals throughout the world who celebrate the holiday.

"With just days before his inauguration, I had hoped that President-elect Trump would put an end to his inflammatory rhetoric. But obviously that pivot has not occurred.

I have heard from many constituents and I thought long and hard about this decision. I respect the office of the President and our nation's peaceful transfer of power.

U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) announced today that the House Democratic Leadership has selected her to serve on the powerful House Appropriations Committee.
The committee is responsible for funding every federal agency, program, and project within the United States government.

“This Egyptian-proposed resolution wrongly targets Israel and the U.S. must veto it if the measure is brought-up for a vote.
Such unfair and one-sided resolutions undermine the trust necessary for direct talks between the Israelis and Palestinians.
