WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) helped introduce legislation today that would provide coronavirus relief payments to millions of immigrants and immigrant families who are currently ineligible to receive these critical funds.
Last week, Congress passed and the President signed into law the third COVID-19 relief package, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act (H.R. 748).

US Senator Charles Schumer announced updated impact numbers related to the bipartisan "Corona 3" legislation that sailed through the Senate with a vote of 96-0, passed the House and was signed by President Trump. Schumer is now able to announce more detailed numbers in addition to the $40 billion he announced moments after the bill first passed the Senate on Wednesday, March 25.

Grace Meng (D-Queens) announced today that she is working with the U.S. Postal Service to get mail delivery restarted in the Queens communities of Ridgewood, Maspeth, Glendale and Middle Village. For nearly a week, many residents of these communities have not received their mail.

Soon after President Trump first uttered the phrase "Chinese virus," Representative Grace Meng got a call from her parents, who had read about it in the newspaper. Had Mr. Trump, they wondered, really given the coronavirus that corrosive moniker?

Yes, she told them, indeed he had. And no, despite being a member of Congress and her parents' continued pleas, there was nothing she could do to make him stop.
