U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) announced today that she has called on key Congressional panels to help with her efforts in making feminine hygiene products more accessible to women.

Meng sent letters to the Chair and Ranking Members of three House Appropriations Subcommittees requesting that they include provisions in their upcoming spending bills to increase the availability of feminine hygiene items. The letters include three separate pieces of correspondence and ask for the following:

U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, today sent a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry asking if Iran – in the wake of the Iranian Nuclear deal – may now be provided access to the U.S. financial system.

The letter comes amid reports that the Obama Administration is considering allowing Iranian banks to clear financial transactions by utilizing U.S. dollars. Meng, who opposed the nuclear agreement with Iran, also requested answers from Kerry about the financial support that Iranian banks have provided to terrorist organizations.

U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) announced today that she has called on a key Congressional committee to do everything in its power to help combat increased airplane noise over Queens.

In a letter to the Chair and Ranking Member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies (THUD), Meng urged the panel to include specific noise mitigation measures in its annual spending bill.

U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, thanked Secretary of State John Kerry for decreasing the widespread denial of U.S. visas to Israeli citizens.

In 2014, Meng complained to Kerry about the reduction of visas granted to Israelis who were seeking to visit the United States. After sending a letter to Kerry on the matter and urging him to end the high rejection rates, the State Department agreed to address the problem, and implemented steps to improve the visa process for Israelis.

U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) announced today that she is working on securing military honors for the funeral of Martin Devereux, the 71-year-old who was killed in last week’s house fire in Elmhurst.

Yesterday, the victim’s cousin contacted Meng’s office to seek the honors saying that Devereux served in the Navy from 1963-1967 and that documents related to his service were likely destroyed in the fire.

U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY), a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and its Subcommittee on Asia, today issued the following statement condemning the terrorist attack in Pakistan:

“The barbaric attack in Pakistan is an outrage and I condemn this heinous act of terror in the strongest possible terms.

Those responsible for this attack are cowards, and I hope that these evil and gutless people are swiftly brought to justice. I call on U.S. officials to help Pakistan with any assistance needed in that effort and United States stands with Pakistan at this difficult time.

U.S. Reps. Grace Meng (D-NY) and Lee Zeldin (R-NY), members of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, introduced legislation to renew and broaden a key U.S. law which monitors certain ships and airlines that travel in and out of Iran.

Under this law, the President is required to report to Congress – on an annual basis – which foreign ships enter Iran’s seaports owned by sanctioned entities, and which foreign airports sanctioned Iranian air carriers fly into. The law expires on December 31.
