QUEENS, NY – U.S. Reps. Grace Meng (D-Queens) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Queens/Bronx) announced today that they sent a letter to President Trump calling on him to prioritize the transfer of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ventilators from the national stockpile to Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, New York.

"We entreat you to promptly deploy immediate necessary resources to decrease the intensity and mitigate long-term harm of COVID-19," Meng and Ocasio-Cortez wrote. "We urge you to address the needs required at Elmhurst Hospital."

QUEENS, NY – Today, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) announced that she plans to introduce legislation which would temporarily suspend all rent and mortgage payments for commercial and rental properties for the duration of the coronavirus pandemic. This temporary suspension would be active during and up to six months after the pandemic to provide those affected by it time to find employment and other relief as necessary. She is currently drafting the legislation.

QUEENS, NY – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens), a member of the House Appropriations Committee, the panel responsible for funding all federal agencies and programs, announced today that New York small businesses that have suffered economic losses due to the coronavirus can now apply for disaster loans provided through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA).
SBA's ability to provide these loans is based on a measure that Meng, and Reps. Nydia Velázquez (D-NY) and Judy Chu (D-CA) helped pass into law.

In a letter she sent to the President, Meng called for him to addresses the issues of housing, hospitals, education, the census, immigrants, the workforce, families, small businesses, prisons and discrimination against Asian Americans.

"In an effort to help combat the coronavirus, I have come to the conclusion that New York City must temporarily close its schools. The time has come for this to happen. This is not an easy position to take and I am fully aware of the complexities of closing our schools.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) and U.S. Senator Cory Booker (D-NJ) today sent a letter to President Trump urging him to increase the availability of mobile hotspots during the coronavirus outbreak to help students complete their schoolwork.
In their correspondence, Meng and Booker called on the President to set aside at least $1 billion in emergency declaration funds so that schools and libraries can purchase the hotspots. The President issued an emergency declaration this afternoon.
