QUEENS, NY – U.S. Reps. Grace Meng (D-Queens) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Queens/Bronx) announced today that they helped secure a visa for the son of GuiYing Ma, the Queens resident who died last month after she was attacked in November while sweeping the sidewalk next to her home.
The two lawmakers helped obtain the visa for Yang Gao so that he can come to the U.S. from China to attend his mother's funeral later this month.

This Community Project Funding is money that was included in the new government spending package which passed the House late last night.

Grace Meng (D-NY), New York's senior appropriator on the House Appropriations Committee, applauded the House Homeland Security Committee for passing legislation that increases funding for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program from $180 to $500 million annually. This increase in funding will allow houses of worship, day schools, and other nonprofits to better protect themselves and their congregations as religious and ethnically based hate crimes have continued to increase.

Grace Meng (D-NY), Mike Doyle (D-PA), Co-Chair of the Congressional Autism Caucus, and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) introduced the bipartisan Autism Family Caregivers Act of 2022, a bipartisan bill that would provide access to caregiver skills training for family members who care for children with autism spectrum disorder or other developmental disabilities or delays.
