Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) called on the head of Government Accountability Office (GAO) to study how the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has considered community noise impacts while implementing the Next Generation Air Transportation System (NextGen) in major metropolitan areas such as Queens and the rest of the New York area. The Congresswoman called for the review in a letter, with 28 other Members of Congress, to Gene Dodaro, the Comptroller General of the United States.

The Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) proposed public charge rule would have dire consequences for immigrant communities, forcing families to choose between maintaining their legal immigration status and daily necessities such as food, healthcare and housing.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY), a Vice Chair of the LGBT Equality Caucus, sent a letter to Secretary of State Mike Pompeo expressing concern about the State Department's rejection of requests by U.S. Embassies to fly rainbow flags in honor of LGBT Pride Month.

Meng's letter urges the State Department to reverse its position and immediately allow Pride flags to be flown.

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) issued the following statement after passage of the American Dream and Promise Act, H.R. 6.

The bill establishes permanent residency and pathway to citizenship for Dreamers, and individuals who either held or were eligible for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) or Deferred Enforced Departure (DED) as of January 1, 2017. These populations have been living in the United States for many years, but now face the threat of deportation under the Trump Administration.

WASHINGTON — Rep. Grace Meng is known affectionately around Capitol Hill as "the period lady."

And she's just "fine with that" – at least it means people are talking about what has become the New York Democrat's signature issue and one she has found surprising success pushing during Donald Trump's presidency.

Meng wants women in the U.S. and abroad to have free or affordable access to pads, tampons and other menstrual products. She's already helped secure them in all federal prisons and was key to getting FEMA to allow homeless shelters to buy them using grant money.
