MENG PRESENTS MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO QUEENS ORGANIZATIONS

QUEENS, NY – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) announced today that she recently presented several Queens organizations with millions of dollars in federal funding that she secured in Congress.

Meng visited Queens College, the New York Hall of Science, the King of Kings Foundation, New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE) and the Pomonok Houses where she presented each with checks, spoke with officials and constituents and saw the way the money she obtained will be used.

“These are all great organizations and institutions that do tremendous work serving our borough, and I’m proud to have fought for and secured this crucial money,” said Meng. “From benefiting students and immigrants to local youth and public housing residents, the funds I brought back to our borough from Washington will help these organizations do an even better job for our communities. I am always thrilled to deliver for Queens.”

Details of the funding include: 

  1. More than $3.1 Million for  Queens College to expand its Tech Incubator, create a Working Group for Digital Forensics and a new state-of-the-art cleanroom facility for cutting-edge nanofabrication research. 
  2. More than $1 Million for the New York Hall of Science in Corona to develop and implement a range of research and programs that engage kids and adults with NASA’s planned Artemis III launch to the moon. Artemis III’s targeted launch is for late 2027 and on Tuesday, NASA announced the astronauts for the mission. 
  3. More than $1 Million for the King of Kings Foundation to fund crime prevention and community building strategies at the Pomonok Houses in Flushing, benefiting youth, seniors and families. 
  4. $850,000 for New Immigrant Community Empowerment (NICE) in Jackson Heights to fund a worker center that will provide programs to assist the borough’s immigrant workforce, such as job training and certifications.
  5. $550,000 for the Public Housing Community Fund to renovate a playground with a new splash pad at the Pomonok Houses in Flushing. During her visit, Meng helped to break ground for the project. 

The above money is some of the tens of millions of dollars and dozens of projects that Meng has secured for Queens in government spending packages that were recently passed by the House and Senate and enacted into law.
