Congresswoman commends President and Vice President for standing against anti-Asian hate
WASHINGTON, D.C. – This afternoon, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) met with President Biden and Vice President Harris at the White House as part of a meeting with the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), of which she is the First Vice Chair.
The meeting focused on issues and priorities facing the Asian American community including the ongoing hate and violence that Asian Americans have been forced to endure over the past year due to the coronavirus.
“I thank the President and Vice President for meeting with us and listening to our concerns and priorities on issues affecting Asian Americans,” said Meng. “I also once again thank them for standing with the Asian American community during this difficult and challenging time, and for taking action to combat the rise in bigotry and racist attacks. In addition, I commend the President for supporting my COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act which is currently working its way through the Senate. The President and Vice President have been true allies of the Asian American community, and working together, we will continue to do everything possible to stop Asian hate.”
