Meng Issues Statement On Senate’s Failure To Pass The House Resolution To Provide Rail Workers With Paid Sick Leave
December 2, 2022
WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) today issued the following statement condemning the Senate's failure to pass a resolution, H. Con. Res. 119, to provide rail workers with seven paid sick days. The resolution passed the House with a 221-207 bipartisan vote on Wednesday, November 30.
"I am extremely disappointed by the Senate's failure to adopt the House-passed resolution that put essential rail workers ahead of corporate profits. Rail workers are responsible for transporting essential goods like fuel, water, and food across our nation. They, like all workers, deserve paid sick leave and it is appalling that some lawmakers disagree."
