Meng Issues Statement on Arrest of Former President Trump

QUEENS, NY – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) today issued the following statement on the indictment of former President Donald Trump.
"This is a sad and somber day for our nation. It is the first time in our country's history that a former United States President has been criminally indicted.
Today's arrest shows that nobody is above the law, even if you recently held the highest office in the land. No matter who you are, the power you hold or the size of your bank account, it demonstrates that people will be held accountable for their actions.
This case must now work its way through our justice system and do so in a fair manner without any interference. The former President, like everybody else in our country, is entitled to due process.
I urge any demonstrations that are held on both sides – from supporters and critics – here in New York or anywhere else in the country to be peaceful and without any violence."
