MENG ISSUES STATEMENT ON DEADLY EARTHQUAKE IN TAIWAN
QUEENS, NY – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens), a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on State and Foreign Operations, today issued the following statement on the devastating earthquake in Taiwan.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the victims who were killed and injured during the powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Taiwan early Wednesday morning.
As emergency responders work to rescue people from collapsed buildings and landslides, my heart is with all those who have lost loved ones. Communities in Queens and across New York City are a constant source of support for family and friends back in Taiwan. After the strongest earthquake to hit the island in 25 years, I know this time is no different. As aftershocks continue, I hope all communities remain safe and secure.”
