Internet outage fixed after Congresswoman intervened with Postal Service and AT&T
QUEENS, NY – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) announced today that she helped to restore internet service to the Kew Gardens Hills Post Office which will once again allow all customers to use services at the facility.
For weeks, an internet outage at this location prevented many constituents from using important postal services and sending mail in a timely manner.
After receiving complaints from constituents, the Congresswoman contacted the U.S. Postal Service and AT&T, the facility's internet service provider. Meng called for service to be immediately restored, and within days, the internet was back up and running.
"This lack of internet service was a huge inconvenience for constituents who depend on the services provided by the Kew Gardens Hills Post Office," said Congresswoman Meng. "During this ordeal, many were forced to travel to other post offices, and those unable to get to different locations were simply out of luck. I'm pleased that this facility is back online, and that it can again serve the needs of customers. As we fight against the current attacks on the Postal Service, we must make sure that post offices in our communities have the resources they need to serve the public. I thank all the constituents who reached out to me about this problem and I also thank my government colleagues – Assemblyman Daniel Rosenthal, Councilman Rory Lancman and State Senator Joe Addabbo, Jr – for working with me to address the issue."
"Our community post offices are an important lifeline for residents across Queens, and when any related service is interrupted for any reason, our constituents suffer,"said State Senator Addabbo. "I am grateful for my colleagues in government, especially Congressmember Grace Meng, for addressing this issue and all those responsible for returning internet service at the Kew Gardens Hills Post Office, so that our residents can once again have access to all the services the local post office has to offer."
"The Kew Gardens Hills Post Office serves thousands of my constituents on a daily basis," said Assemblymember Daniel Rosenthal. "The recent service outage highlights the importance of ensuring our postal system is fully resourced and accessible. I thank Congresswoman Meng for spearheading the successful effort to restore service in a timely manner."
The Kew Gardens Hills Post Office is located at 75-23 Main Street in Kew Gardens Hills.
