Meng Calls on Homeland Security Secretary to End Use of Privately Operated Prisons
August 18, 2016
U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) late this afternoon sent a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson urging him to end the use of privately operated prisons for immigration detainees.
The Congresswoman’s letter comes just hours after U.S. Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates issued a memo announcing that the Justice Department will stop using private prisons for federal inmates.
