Meng Brings White House Jewish Liaison to Queens for Roundtable with Local Jewish Leaders and Visits to Jewish Community Organizations

October 20, 2022
QUEENS, NY – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) announced today that she arranged for the Biden administration's new liaison to the American Jewish community to visit her congressional district in Queens yesterday afternoon.
Meng and Shelley Greenspan, who in July was tapped by President Biden to serve as the White House Liaison to the Jewish community, began the visit with a roundtable conversation with Jewish women in Kew Gardens Hills. They then held a roundtable with local rabbis and Jewish community leaders on the campus of Queens College, a roundtable that also included a discussion with students who have been impacted by antisemitism.
After the roundtables, Meng and Greenspan visited Jewish community organizations in the area. Their stops included Chazaq in Kew Gardens Hills, which provides a wide range of social services to residents of the Jewish community. They also visited Tomchei Shabbos, a food pantry in Kew Gardens.
In addition, Meng provided Greenspan with a tour of Main Street in Kew Gardens Hills.
"I want to thank Shelley Greenspan for spending the afternoon in Queens, meeting with local Jewish leaders, and engaging in a meaningful and productive discussion with them," said Meng. "I was honored to have the opportunity to organize this visit so that the President's White House Jewish liaison could see firsthand the wonderful and vibrant Jewish community that I am proud to represent in Congress. From fighting and advocating for the Jewish community to combating the rise in antisemitism, I look forward to continuing to work with Shelley on addressing crucial issues of mutual concern. I hope she comes back soon."
"I want to thank Congresswoman Meng for welcoming me to Queens, which is a major beating heart of Jewish life in our nation," said Greenspan. "It was invaluable for me on this visit to learn from such remarkable civil society leaders and students. The Biden Administration looks forward to building on these partnerships as we work with Congresswoman Meng and this community to fight antisemitism and other important issues."
