Meng Announces Opening of New COVID-19 Vaccination Site at Flushing Library in Queens
QUEENS, NY – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) issued the following statement after Mayor de Blasio announced that the City will partner with Queens Public Library (QPL) to open a new vaccination site at Flushing Library, with plans to open additional sites to serve different communities across the borough.
"I'm thrilled to have worked with Mayor de Blasio to open a COVID-19 vaccination site at the Flushing Library in Flushing, Queens. I have been advocating for this and I am grateful the Mayor is delivering for my constituents," said Congresswoman Meng. "Nearly a year ago, my district in Queens was at the nexus of the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic. We cannot ever go back to those days – and this site will help make sure that we do not. I encourage all eligible residents to get vaccinated when possible. We must get every eligible person vaccinated if we are to safely return to normalcy."
The Flushing Library located at 41-17 Main Street will initially offer more than 200 appointments per day. It will also include dedicated appointments for eligible Queens residents, and will be open six days a week, from 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Additional days and appointments will be available as supply increases citywide.
Starting March 10th, New Yorkers age 60 and above will qualify to receive the COVID-19 vaccine. Later this week, eligible New Yorkers can make an appointment at nyc.gov/vaccinefinder or by calling 877-VAX-4NYC.
Flushing Library's last day of public service will be Thursday, March 11, from 12:00 PM to 7:00PM. You can pick up any library materials or remote printing requests currently on hold at Flushing through that time.
If you are unable to pick up your requested materials at Flushing, they will be available at Queensboro Hill Library (60-05 Main Street in Flushing) starting Monday, March 15.
