Money comes from Infrastructure law that Congresswoman Helped Pass in Congress
QUEENS, NY – This evening, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens), New York's senior appropriator on the House Appropriations Committee, announced that the federal infrastructure law she helped pass in Congress will invest more than $2.1 billion this year to upgrade and expand local transit in New York.
This investment will allow for the purchase of new buses and railcars, address repair backlogs, modernize fleets, and transition to new technologies that reduce carbon emissions. These funds will also create even more good-paying jobs.
"The infrastructure bill enacted into law late last year was a historic and monumental investment for repairing, overhauling and modernizing our nation's infrastructure, and today's announcement is yet another example of how this law is delivering for New York." said Meng. "Upgrading and expanding our transit system is crucial for our region to help ensure that people get to where they need to be whether for work, school or other purposes. I'm proud to have helped pass the infrastructure bill through Congress."
