Meng and Colleagues Call for Coronavirus Vaccine Location in Western Part of Congressional District

April 11, 2021
QUEENS, NY – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens), along with State Senator Joe Addabbo, Assemblymembers Catherine Nolan, Jenifer Rajkumar and Brian Barnwell, and Councilman Robert Holden announced today that they are calling for a COVID-19 vaccination site in the western part of the Congresswoman's congressional district which includes the communities of Middle Village, Maspeth, Glendale, and parts of Ridgewood and Woodhaven.
The Queens lawmakers sent letters to Mayor de Blasio and Governor Cuomo asking for such a location to be established.
Copies of the of both letters can be viewed here and here and the text is below.
----------------------------------
We write to implore you to establish a mass vaccination site in the western part of my congressional district, which includes the neighborhoods of Middle Village, Maspeth, Glendale, and parts of Ridgewood and Woodhaven.
We have heard from many local stakeholders regarding vaccine access issues for communities west of Woodhaven Boulevard. Due to the limited number of vaccination sites in this area, we are urging your office to establish a mass vaccination site in this underrepresented region of Queens County.
In light of many mass vaccination sites being established across the five boroughs, and an increase in vaccine supply, our constituents in Western Queens must have a more local vaccination site to continue our City's battle against COVID-19.
Together, we must ensure work to bridge the gap between vaccine distribution and our mutual constituents in Western Queens. We urge you to strongly consider opening a mass vaccination site in Western Queens.
Thank you for your ongoing efforts to reach those hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic throughout the City of New York. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to my District Director, Anthony Lemma, at .
Sincerely,
