WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Reps. Grace Meng (D-NY), Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), Norma Torres (D-CA), Lou Correa (D-CA), Adriano Espaillat (D-NY) and Jesús "Chuy" García (D-IL) today introduced the "Renewing Immigration Provisions of the Immigration Act of 1929," which would update Section 249 of the Immigration and Nationality Act known as registry.
Section 249 gives the Secretary of Homeland Security the discretion to "register" certain individuals for lawful permanent resident status if they have been in the country since a certain date and meet other requirements.

QUEENS, NY – Today, U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) called on the United States Postal Service (USPS) to immediately address the theft of mail from postal relay boxes in Queens, which are the dark green boxes next to many of the blue collection boxes.
Meng called for the Postal Service to take action in a letter she sent to the agency's district manager who oversees postal operations in Queens and Long Island.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) today issued the following statement blasting the Supreme Court for striking down New York's law on carrying concealed weapons.
"I condemn this decision by the conservative majority Supreme Court which strikes down New York's concealed carry law. It is a horrible ruling that will have disastrous consequences for public safety. It will permit people to legally carry hidden guns on our city's streets without having to provide any excuse as to why they need a gun.
