In recognition of Women's History Month, North Shore-LIJ Health System's Katz Institute for Women's Health – joined by U.S. Rep. Grace Meng (D-Queens) – will offer free health services to women this Saturday, March 28 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Flushing branch of the Queens Library.
The "Women's Health Forum" will offer a wide array of services to promote good health and healthy living for women including:
  • Blood Pressure Screenings
  • Health Literacy
  • Fall Prevention
  • The Doctor is In (one-on-ones with doctors specializing in cardiology, gastroenterology, internal medicine and family medicine)
  • Health Access (health insurance eligibility)
  • Wheel of Health (prizes for correct answers)
Services will also include several interactive activities – offered every 30 minutes – such as Tai Chi, Mindfulness, Qi Gong and balancing and strengthening exercises.
"It is critical that women be encouraged to live healthy lifestyles, and this forum will be a great way to promote good health and provide valuable resources, education and answers about healthy living," said Meng. "I encourage all women to attend so that they can take advantage of these important screenings and services, and I thank North Shore-LIJ Health System's Katz Institute for Women's Health for hosting this event."
The forum, set to take place on the lower level of the library, will be open to the public, and all services will be provided free of charge. No appointments are necessary.
