Airport Noise Issue Goes to Congress

November 24, 2014

Last month, two members of Congress from Queens, Joseph Crowley and Grace Meng, joined with two others from Long Island to launch the Quiet Skies Caucus. Their aim is to find solutions for aircraft noise and pollution after years of little progress.

"Time and again, the Federal Aviation Administration has carelessly ignored the needs and concerns of Queens residents by doing virtually nothing to alleviate the increased aircraft noise over the borough," said Ms. Meng.

She charges that the agency has failed to even notify the community about a change in flight paths that added traffic starting in 2012.
